Social media is not suitable as a stand-alone marketing tactic. However, if you are able to understand the importance of building a relationship with your audience through social media, you can start to build awareness around a brand that is appealing to your ideal patients. Here are 4 tips to get the best results out of branding your practice on social media!
Tip #1:Be Relateable

A common mistake many dental practices make is creating an unrelatable brand. Consumers value brands that are authentic. Followers want to get to know your practice on a more personal level. Avoid being too clinical with your posts. This doesn’t mean you can’t throw in an occasional dramatic before and after, it just means people are more interested in getting to know you and your team over social media. Celebrate your team’s birthdays and anniversaries. Share photos of your hygienist’s amazing garden or the beautiful cake your front desk made. You can even toss in an occasional meme or dental joke to lighten the mood and highlight your practice’s sense of humor.

Tip #2:Show off Your Relationships With Your Current Patients

Don’t be afraid to show off the thank you card that you received from a patient that you helped overcome their dental anxiety. Did your patient drop off homemade cookies for the team? Snap a photo of it and share it! Did one of your patients just get married or graduate law school? Congratulate them! Wish your high school patient the best of luck on their upcoming championship game. Celebrate the exciting things that are going on with your patients! The more you showcase your relationships with your current patients, the better prospective patients will feel with their decision to choose your practice.

Tip #3:Share Content With Value

Show off your expertise in the industry by providing valuable tips on dental hygiene. For example, give your opinion on the effectiveness of the latest dental trend such as charcoal toothpaste or water picks. If your audience knows they will find valuable content on your page, they will continue to come back for more. They are also more likely to share this content with friends and family resulting in more engagement and brand awareness.

Tip #4:Be Consistent

Above all, consistency is key! Committing to posting regularly is extremely important. Eliminate the stress of planning last minute content by gathering ideas from your team during regularly scheduled meetings or morning huddles. Compile these ideas in a spreadsheet or notebook for future reference. Create a calendar or invest in a social media management platform such as Hootsuite to keep your posts organized.

Venture Practices specialize in supporting practices in developing a brand of their own. A great brand consistently influences the market and brings in high-value patients that take your recommendations, write great reviews, and refer you. Practices that brand themselves VS marketing themselves end up with high retention/high referral businesses that don’t rely on huge marketing budgets. Need guidance with branding? We’d love to help!
